Spicy Potato Slices (Marathi: Batate che Kachrya)


Description : This is a fast and easy vegetarian recipe to make Spicy Potato Slices at home. Kids usually like the taste and this can be served with Roti and Chapatti (Indian bread). This also works as a side dish with Curd Rice.

 Chopped to make big pieces of 1 inch each. This is intended to give that spicy taste but not make it too hot.
Pav Bhaji Masala (Mix)

Utensils
1. Fry Pan with Lid

2. Spatula


Procedure
1. Peel raw potato, wash and chop into thin slices (<1mm in thickness).
2. Soak the slices in salt water for 10 minutes. 
3. Drain excess water (but do not wipe the slices with a kitchen towel or a napkin).
4. Heat a pan on low flame. Pour oil and let it get heat-up.
5. Add mustard seeds, turmeric powder, asafoetida, chili powder and curry leaves. Do not add water.
6. (optional) Add green chili chops
7. Put all the potato slices into the pan. Add coriander and cumin powder.
8. Add salt as per taste
9. Flip over slices once the bottom side is crisp and golden brown. Pour oil little by little if desired. Fry the other side. 
10. Cover the pan with lid (while on low flame) for about 5 mins. 
11. Check doneness by slightly inserting a spatula into the slice. Slice is done if spatula easily goes down. 
12. Remove from the heat and serve with any meal.
